Swedish massage uses a range of traditional techniques for the prevention of illness, and to relax and loosen the muscles. It is also my most popular massage, and depending on the intensity, can be extremely therapeutic, relaxing or even stimulating.
If taken as a full body massage the purpose is to deeply relax all the muscles of the body. This is great for the body … but it also calms and relieves stress … so it’s great for the mind too!
Swedish massage is helpful after a period of physical exercise or mental exertion, and can help you cope with a stressful time in your life.
Swedish massage can also be taken to help specific areas, such as the hands, arms, or legs. The back and shoulders are often a very popular area.
Swedish massage taken in this way can be combined with other treatments. My favourite is Swedish massage for the back and shoulders, followed by reflexology for the feet and completed with a facial massage. Ideal for one and a half to two hours treatment.
